.five ways to wear pearls.

In the Deep South, pearls are the go-to accessory.  Sister V recently graduated and received pearls not only from her father, but from her father-in-law!  They go with practically everything, so the versatility is attractive to both the stay-at-home-mother and the career woman juggling multiple portfolios.  Here are our five favorite ways to wear pearls.

1.  On your wrist.  A well-fitting pearl bracelet makes a splash at any arm-candy party.

2.  With a casual outfit.  Nothing ties together a day outfit like a string of pearls.

3.  With a LBD.  All hail Audrey.

4.  In your ears.  Pearl studs are perfect for day-to-night wear.

5.  As a set.  Nothing says Southern Stepford like the classic wrist, ears, and neck combination.

.goop’s cold buster remedy.

As fans of all things pretty & bright, is it any surprise that Sister V and I adore Gwyneth Paltrow?  I subscribe to her weekly newsletter, goop {get it here}.  This week they featured a cold buster remedy straight from Feel Food in the West Village, just in time for cold & flu season.

You’ll need:

  • 1/2 of one lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon of bee pollen {get it here}
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of honey {get it here}
  • 1 teaspoon of pressed ginger
  • Small pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Mix the powder into 8 ounces of hot water.  Drink.  Curl up on the couch and binge watch your favorite vice on Netflix.

.the white blouse.

Is there anything a lady needs more than the perfect white blouse?  Ideally, a white blouse can be both casual and dressy, an ambiguous garment that can transition from day-to-night with the simple exchange of a few accessories.  An investment into a high-quality blouse will pay dividends for years to come.
